    Mosquitos in my bio filter
I accidentally left the lid on my bio filter (for pond) cracked and now mosquitos are breeding in there. Every time I open it, they all fly out. It's disgusting.
I tried wiping as many of the baby's out as I could, but they are still in there.

Will they just die in there or do I need to do something? I have dogs, fish and plants.

I've never had this problem before.

You may have 'midges' which have been a problem all over the spring time area (I don't know where you are, I am in Ontario). They look like mosqitoes but are actually smaller and harmless. A good rain gets rid of them, lays them down, so they are almost gone here now.

OK Thanks! I will look that up. I am in the Sacramento area. California.
They are small and have not bit me so far, I'm allergic to mosquitos, I swell up and itch uncontrollably. So hopefully these are OK.

I couln't tell by the definition, but from what I read, I am now more worried than I was before. Lives are at stake
I will cover myself with DEET if I go any where near the pond or outside.
