My discs are herniated from 2 car accidents I am depemdent on narcotis to take care of my kids etc. my meds were stolen from my home I went to dr, with police report and she was unable to replace them,now I have 14 days to be in pain what should I do?:confused:

There's really nothing you can do unless you go c another doctor and lie and say your not seeing anyone else for your back however if he gives you the same perscription you were on same dose your going to have to pay cash because your insurance won't cover that when you should have 2 weeks left of the other script. However my advice to you is to sit with the withdrawl it will only be hell for 3 or 4 days I too have back problems and have been through opiate w/d more times than I can count. Believe me get off the stuff.

Thank you for your response that I did go through the withdrawl. There is only 2 hospitals in this town and all doctors are contrcated under one or the other after 6 months I finally get to go to one of the only two pain management dr's in the whole bloody state

Try the methadone clinic it will at least make it to where your not detoxing in agony for days wanting any way out methadone would tie you over untell you get new prascription

This might be a good thing in the end - I know that sounds crazy but it sounds like you've unintentionally developed a dependency on these drugs, which is a bad path to be one. They should only be given to you for short-term, accute pain, not as a long-term solution for the pain.

There are a number of procedures and options for pain relief for disc problems and you need to see a specialist. Even for dogs they offer things like cold laser therapy, which was originally developed for people and is very effective. Accupuncture, chiropractic care, massage, exercise and surgery are all options. I think the solution needs to be to resolve the pain long term. The problem with narcotics is that as you grow dependent on them, they do not work as well and you increasingly will need more for the same benefit. It can cause a third accident because it will dope you up. It will also make it increasingly difficult to take care of your kids because you will be knocked out, and you could be found incompetent to care for them.

Please go see a specialist in pain management and a specialist in back problems and find out what your better options are, then focus on a solution - not a cover-up - to your pain issues.
