Is there any type of hair dye that I can use to dye my hair without damaging too much. My hair is light brown if that helps. And I want to dye it with thick golden blonde streaks.

There is no truth to the claim that hair dye causes hair loss -- at least not permanent hair loss. There are plenty of reports of hair breakage caused by overdying and overbleaching hair.

If you want golden blonde streaks in light brown hair, you might be able to get away using a single-process haircoloring. Note that the shade of the haircoloring will not necessarily be achieved on your hair. You'll find that an ultra-light blonde will not be appreciably lighter than a dark blonde -- but it might be brassier (more yellow and orange). That's because it's the hydrogen peroxide in the coloring that actually lightens the hair and unless you purchase your own hydrogen peroxide (developer) separately (you can do that), the products will have the same concentration of hydrogen peroxide. In fact, even in dark browns and blacks, they will have the same concentration of hydrogen peroxide. Using hair bleach might be trickier, but it's more predictable.

Almost all hair can stand one or two bleachings. Many can take three without significant breakage. Beyond that, all bets are off. Breakage usually starts a day or two after bleaching.

Hair doesn't heal and the damage that accrues from dyeing or bleaching cannot be fixed (regardless of what the "reconstructor" products claim). However, if you only bleach the hair once, and then bleach only the roots when you touch it up, you won't have any trouble (sorry mom, I am sworn to tell the truth).
