    Can my fiancé adopt my daughter?
    My ex husband is my 10 year old daughters father.he has not bothered with her since we split up 5 years ago. I am re marrying this year and my future husband wants to adopt my daughter(she is more than happy for this) I can not find her bio father ,nor can csa .etc,. we have recently changed daughter name by deed poll at her request to my fiancé who she is already calling dad, what is the time for adoption?and also can we do it without the ex<s consent?. does her bio father have any parental rights? ANY ADVICE PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!

    Hi9 , any advice on whether my fiancé and I I can take my daughter(age 10)to live abroad without her bio fathers consent??
    She has not seen or nor can we make any contact with him for 3 years now and I need to know if he has any parental rights??

    I merged your threads because they are all part of the same issue.

    What you want is for your fiancée to adopt so that the bio father will no longer have a say.

    If the bio father is nowhere to be found, you can get an adoption by making a good faith effort to find him. Sounds like you did that to get the name change.

    You should have an attorney prepare the adoption petition so he covers all the bases.

    One problem may be that you have to be married, posssibly for a period, before you can adopt.

    However, the only impediment to your moving and then proceeding with the adoption in your new location, would be if the bio father filed suit against you. Since that seems an unlikley thing to happen, you might want to take your chances.
