Ok so my girlfriend was due her period round the 22nd of this month. She has around a 31 day cycle but this varies a bit. She's 18 years old. I don't think we've had sex this month, and we are always extremely safe. However she is 5 days late and this is very worrying for her, and myself. She is a fit young woman, works out probably 3 days a week. She's 5'9'' & around 140lbs. She's not very stressed so this isn't the cause of the delay. Also she doesn't believe there's any chance she is pregnant, so this isn't adding to the delay! Oh yeah and she started medication for thrush about 10,12 days ago. Basically I would like to know if you have idea what the problem could be! Email if possible! Kind regards, Andy

There can be many reasons for a late period. Sometimes, there is actually not even a reason, it's just that mother nature throws us a curve ball once in a while.

Has she taken a pregnancy test yet? Remember, the only safe sex is no sex. Not one form of birth control is 100% effective. Accidents still happen

No she hasn't taken a test yet. We haven't had sex since her last period hence the confusion!:( Hopefully Doc will have a simple, not-serious explanation tomorrow..

She could still be pregnant. She should take a test.
