Can NYS levy Social Security income for back taxes?
I owe New York State income tax for the last couple of
    Years.

Can NYS garnish or levy my Social Security to collect the state
    Taxes due?

Can NYS garnish my earnings if I have a job that only pays

$250 per week in gross earnings?

    Thank you!

Taxes and student loans can be garnished from social security.
You could call them and ask about an easier payment. Not sure they would go for it but its worth a try. Write out your budget and ask, it can't hurt.

    Thanks for your answer.

I know that SS can be garnished / levied for Federal taxes but is that also true for New York State income taxes?

    Thanks!

The states CAN go after your SS if such garnishment will not reduce your standard of living below the pverty level.
