I wanted to know can I sue the hospital where I work cause my coworker printed out my medical records on line and left them on the printer and I found them it has her name and the time she printed it can I sue and what type of lawyer do I need

I don't know that you can sue her but you do need to tell her supervisor or whoever is above her or the head of the hospital that she did this.

NoHelp - she said she wants to sue the hospital. I don't know what she would sue the hospital for as HIPAA does not work that way. Who did the coworker disclose your medical history to? You need to report her actions to her supervisor. It just might cause her to lose her job.

You may file a complaint with the supervisor,

1. did this worker have the right or authority to review and see the records

2. was the printer in a secure area where only medical personal can see the material

No it was not she was trying to see if I was sick are not so what all can I do besides go to the my boss and she had no reason doing that to me it the hospital job to things private

So can I get a lawer anway she had no reason going in my chart so I can not sue

Trying to see if you were sick or not does not require printing out material.

I really do not think you can sue. Even if you could sue it was the nurse that did this on her own. The hospital didn't tell her too most likely. You probably wouldn't win any worthwhile amount from her even if you did sue and win.
Anybody can sue anybody for anything the court will gladly take your money for you to sue but winning and it being worthwhile are a different story.

But even then you have to follow the procedure we have told you first to cover your bases and back you up. Who knows, if she does unethical things like this more than just this instance it may be a good thing to have her written up.

Again, no one said your couldn't sue the hospital. You will be hard pressed to win anything. Sue away. Im sure the lawyer will be happy to take your money.
