GE to AO Smith Fan blower motor wiring
I am replacing a GE indoor fan blower motor with an AO Smith motor (same specs, supposedly the replacement motor). The old GE motor had only two wires besides the ground wire (1 black, 1 yellow, & green ground wire) Both the yellow and black wires from the GE motor were attached to the capacitor; the black line wire from the ac unit was also attached to the capicitor along side the black wire from the GE motor. The GE motor also had an outside plug where the red and blue speed wires from the unit were attached. The New AO Smith motor has three wires for the speed (red, black, & blue). The AO motor also has two brown wires (one with a white stripe) for the capacitor and a yellow common line wire. Obviously the two brown wires from the AO motor are to be atached to the capacitor... but how do I connect the others? There are only to line voltage wires (red & black) from the unit; Where do I connect these to the new AO motor? Is the black line wire to be connected to the capacitor like before, if so, to which brown wire? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks JC:)
