Use Submersible pump cable to connect a pool filter?
    Hi,

Can I use AWG 12 submersible stranded cable to connect my above ground pool pump filter?

I recently changed my well pump wire (300 ft) because the first 50 ft was damaged from the force of the pump. The remainder of the cable is in fine condition and I figured I could run it underground to my pool filter pump. Even if I had to put it in conduit I would save money, as opposed to buying a 250 ft roll of direct burial 12-2 cable.

    Thanks, John

As long as it is installed in a complete conduit system, then fine you can use the wire.

Any wiring for pools must be done in conduit.

Please check local codes as there are several other important codes for pools, such as grounding and bonding, location of required outlets, etc.

You couldn't have used cable anyway. As TK says, you MUST use a conduit system and individual conductors with an insulated green ground.

PLEASE heed his advice about knowing the other codes and safety requirements with regard to pools.
