    Hey I got married u .s citizen so I hve my green card ,social security number we got married 16.01.2008... bt I want to get divorce so its effect on my status... can I loose my green card or doesn't effect on my status?

    Not enough information. Did you get a conditional permenent residence? The card will be valid for 2 years if you did.

    Yes my permenent residence card valid for 2 years until 2011...

    After you get divorced, you need to file the I-751 removal of conditions petition. You need to prove up the bona fides of the marriage at inception.

    The two things to prove are (1) cohabitation and (2) co-mingling of funds. The documents the CIS likely will want to see: joint income tax filings, joint bank accounts, lease showing both names, joint accounts (credit cards, memberships, associations), pictures throughout the marriage, major purchases, travel together, etc.

    You will go to the interview by yourself and you need to convince the officer you were married to have a shared life together and not only for an immigration benefit. Consult with an immigration attorney. Good luck.
