First time offense for petty theft
Two days after I turned 18 I went to wal-mart with a couple of friends. I'm not a bad person at all but I guess I just did something really stupid. Well we stole a couple o tank tops and bras and the total amount of everything I stole cam up to $36. As I was leaving the store some men stopped me and took me in a room and questioned me. Then they called the police. My friends were taking down town because they were 17 but I was able to go home I just had to call and set a court date. My friends have already been to court and they got off with just writing a 200 word essay and visit the county jail. y question is, what will happen to me? I have never been in trouble before. This is my first offense. I'm a little scared and I think about how stupid it was every day.

My guess - purely a guess - is that you will receive the same sentence they received as well as being banned from WalMart for probably a year.

I also would not mention the "I'm not a bad person" defense in Court. At this WalMart (and probably the Police) think you are. Being sorry and promising it will NEVER happen again - that's the way to go.

Would the fact that they were being charged as adult make the penalty different ?If the same results are not available for you,ask about entering a diversion program .

Were the 2 other people charged as Juveniles?

"... the fact the see being charged ..."

I think they meant "Would the fac that he's being charged as an adult make a difference?"

But I also thought I was going to marry Taylor Hanson, sooo...

Yea big typo there.Since I assume the other 2 were being charged as a minor, would the penalty for them be different? I don't see a judge having an adult write a 200 word essay, seems more like a penalty for a minor.
