    * ^ like the carrot sign on the calculator Ü

    graph the following polynomials:
    a. f(x)= x^4+4x^3-7x^2-34x-24
    b. f(x)= x^3+2x^2-5x-6
    c. f(x)= x^3-3x^2+4x-12

    1. list all possible rational zeros
    2. show your long division, synthetic division, or factoring work to find zeros
    3. list all factors
    4. list all zeros
    5. perform sign analysis or the polynomial
    6. calculate and clearly label x & y intercepts on your graphs
    7. accurately graph the polynomial on a clearly labeled x and y plane

    1. Apply the rational root theorem: If p/q is a rational root, then p is a factor of the constant and q is a factor of the lead coefficient. Need to consider negative. As well as pos. possibilities.

    2. Once you've located a zero x = c, divide by x - c to locate other factors.

    3. Ties in with #2.

    4. Ties in with #2.

    5. Pick test values between consecutinve zeros, also one smaller than the smallest zero and one larger than the biggest zero, and test their values in the polynomial to determine whether the polynomial has pos. or negative. Values in the pertinent interval.

    6. The x-intercepts are the zeros and the y-intercept is the constant term or the origin if there is no constant term.

    7. Plot the x and y-intercepts and the test values and draw the curve through them.
