How do I go about having my fiancé adopt my daughter. We live in Fayetteville, NC and I don't know who the biological dad is. What would it entail and what is the laws concerning this.

1. Get married.
2. Get a lawyer.
3. Make a list of every guy the biological father COULD have been.
4. Contact those men for a DNA test.
5. Ask the biological father, when it is determined, if he will sign away parental rights.
6. If the biological father will NOT relinquish parental rights, go after him for child support.
7. If the biological father DOES relinquish parental rights, then you file adoption paperwork for your husband.

NOT knowing who the father is just made this entire thing more complicated. If you truly, absolutely, have NO idea who the father could be (in other words, you were raped by a stranger), then you need the lawyer to get you through this anyway, because only a lawyer in your area will know the laws that apply.
