I recently bought a corded phone-answering system and subsequently decided that a cordless addition would be desirable. Is it possible to combine the two phones on the same line and what needs to be done, if so?

Get a 2 into 1 splitter if you want to plug them into the same jack.

My bt grafite 1500 cordless additional handset says on monitor range out. Howw do I re-regester it?

Yes. All you would need to is a y connector (available at radio shack) and the wireless phone. If it is a home phone it will be VERY EASY. If it is a business phone with music on hold / on hold music, that would be easy as well, but might require a phone tech.
