Hi, I recently bought a optical drive it is a ujd650 i wanted to put it into my Toshiba satellite pro m40, I already have a Toshiba sat pro a120 that has a ujda650 inside of it and before i bought another optical drive i tested it in my Toshiba m40 and it worked however when i bought another ujda650 and tried it in my Toshiba m40 it did not work, it fits in the computer, led comes on and the disc tray pops out but it wont even acknowledge that i have a optical drive in my PC when i go into my computer. Thank You

Check to make sure you didn't put the cable on upside down.

If you have more then one devie on the same ribbon cable make sure you don't have both set to slave or master using the jumpers on the back.
