    Reverse polarity
    When does reverse polarity occur?

Assuming that you mean in relation to an outlet, reverse polarity means that the hot and neutral wires are connected to the opposite terminals in the outlet. Some electrical tools and appliances are wired so that it doesn't matter which prong is hot. Those with polarized plugs (one prong bigger than the other) may cause serious injury or death if power is applied to the wrong prong.
