Building a Shed on a Patterned Concrete Patio
I'm building an 8 x 8 five sided shed directly on my concrete patio. I want to use the patio as the floor of the shed rather than building a floor. Does anyone see an issue with me doing this?

I understand I would need to place a gasket between the concrete and the wall frame... does anyone have a suggestion on what I should use?

I have ordered plans for building the roof/rafters... it is extremely complicated... is there an easy way to frame 5 sided roof rafters?

I look forward to your responses... thanks.

I'd personally prefer a floor separate from the concrete deck. The problems with building the shed directly on the concrete is basically going to boil down to what are you going to do when the shed blows away in a windstorm? How are you going to properly anchor the building onto the concrete? With an attached floor system it makes it easier to anchor down the shed. At least in my mind anyway. And also the floor of the shed keeps your stored items up off the concrete in case of a flood. Those extra few inches could make the difference you know.

I have a 10X12 wooden shed that has a wooden floor. This shed has several wooden runners under the wooden floor and the wooden runners sit on thick concrete runners as well. Basically the shed sits about 10" off the ground dirt. This way in case of a flood I won't lose the contenets of the shed to water damage.

3/16 Tap cons will hold it the shed down or if you want more umf then expandable concrete anchor bolts will hold the plate. They come on many different lengths.

There is a plate insulation you can use but I would use pure 100 % silicone caulk under the plate as you put it down.

The "sill foam" is really for an insulation barrier not a weather barrier as an exposed shed plate would be.

Don't know what your plans have for the roof truss set up but lay out the first truss temp set it. Take it down and use it for a pattern. There are metal truss flat plates to use as a gusset to make the truss. Is the old days we used 1/2 Ext ply for gussets or 3/8 ext for a small shed.
