    Framing a fireplace
I am building a cabin, so it is new construction. I have a magazine that showed a fireplace being framed in (electric fireplace). I kept it in a place so I wouldn't lose it!? Well I lost it...
Does anyone know where I can find or be able to tell me how to frame in a corner fireplace, so I can then face it with some kind of finished product. This will be probably the focal point of the room, so I need it to look good.
    Thanks
    Ron

Guess things are really changing. An electric stove masking as a fireplace in a cabin no less.

I can see I'm losing my job as a real fireplace builder and that old world craftsmanship will eventually be lost forever.

Can you remember more of what the picture looked like or the whole wall?

Was it actually being framed in on site or did it already have a frame?

    What magazine?

I just finished a cabin and sure wish you'd reconsider that choice. However you question wasn't if we like an electric fireplace. You first set the unit near the corner and place it so it is forming an equilateral triangle with the wall sides being the two identical legs and the back of the box the 3rd leg of the triangle. Make sure you are set off the wood surfaces by manufacturer specs. You can use plain stud material to box across the header but you need to tell what your materials are going to be, Faux brick, stone or what.
