I was asked how much I would charge to power wash and stain a deck. Although I have done this job many times for myself and family I have never charged for it.
What is the going rate per square foot for this?

Since you are not a pro you need to set your sights down at the handyman level. Most of us charge by the hour but your can create your quesstimate by trying to determine how many hours to do each step and how many trips to the site since it's all but impossible to do everything in one day. I'd ballpark it at $200 for a 10x10 deck. That's $2 a s/f for doing both steps.
