Stupid chioce on mybalf at Zellers.
Okay, to sum this down I down makeup at zellers and it was under 17 bucks. I got caught and I talked to the mall security and the zellers security(I think) THIS WAS StUPID I KNOW! But pretty much I am not allowed in any hudson bay stores across canada. After talking to a cop the said they won't charge me with so I will not have a criminal record but just a record(which makes sense) But the question that I have is that the zellers cop said I will be getting this letter in the mail saying I have to pay a fine of some sorts. From the Zellers laywers. I was wondering if anyone knew how much this fine would roughtly cost? This was my first and last time!(no lie) and the cops didn't fine me, so why would zellers? It's not like it was the much. I understand that I must face some sort of punishment but I've been reading stories where people had to pay up to 500 bucks. Come on isn't that robbing me too! I am unemployed and a full time university student. Any guess on how fat this fine will be?

I don't know if the court fines would be less or the same had they gone that route. When you pay it make sure they give you a letter saying that it is final and no other problems or fines are going to occur over this.
I remember reading a post from another Canadian that said the store made similar promises and then turned around and had then turned around and had them in court.

My daughters x boyfriend stole perfume for her at Wal Mart and had to pay a $250. Fine for the $20. Perfume. To get a point across to him, I said to him, isn't that crazy how shoplifting ends up costing more than paying for it.

Hey thanks for the tip. Yeah it's not with the police or anything. It's only with Zellers like a settlement or something. Like I fully attend on paying it. Like you do the crime you do the crime. Like I am just so grateful the cops were generous. I was just researching with other incidents and they had to pay 500! From ranging from a 2-30 stealing crime. I am just worried that it will be that high. I was plaining on keeping all of my paper work and such. And when I pay it to ask for a conformation number or something.

Yes, of course if you went to court and have a record.

But yes 250 to 500 is about the norm I hear

Also. If I got a police check, would it show this. Like its on my record but it is not on my criminal record. Slash what shows on a Ontario police record?
