    Beagle Puppy
I recently bought a beagle puppy from a breeder and he is about 8 weeks old. For the first few days I had him he was great, he was very playful and easy going. Now he tends to growl and snap at anyone who grabs him and interrupts the activity he is engaged with currently. Now this is a problem but the thing is it's only sometimes. Maybe 30 minutes out of each day he's like this. I was curious if he will grow out of this or is there more to this that I have ahead of me. I appreciate any help.

Hi I have a Beagle also mine is a few months older. I haven't had any growling or snapping problems but I did & sometimes still do have had trouble with his constant play biting. My breeder advised me that if let go it will become a dominance problem so they told me every time he did this to mimick his mother dog & grab him by the scruff of the neck put him on his back hold him down & growl close to him as his mother would if correcting his behaviour. At first I found this a little hard to do & I felt unkind but I also found that persisting with this time & time again he did eventually calm down enough to stop biting. Beagles are extremely headstrong dogs & if you don't show him the correct way to act & who is the pack leader in the household he will keep going with this behaviour. Enjoy your Beagle you'll have years of fun. Another word of advice if this is your first Beagle keep puppy in or locked up away from the yard at night as they love chasing toads I put my boy on a short leash at night when I take him down for wee's just in case.
