During the construction of our home, the builder roughed in a basement bathroom.

In one corner is where the bathroom roughed in- a square hole in the concrete floor covered by a black flexible cover.
About 5 feet away, in the opposite corner of the basement, is a round hole about the diameter of a paint can covered with a white plastic cover which is about and inch maybe 2 inches from the wall.

I hope someone knows what I'm talking about -

This is where the water was flowing into the basement.

Is this the sewer drain?

Yes, those you described are the rough-ins for the toilet and tub/shower. If you have water coming out of the pipes, its more than likely sewer water.
If the water is coming from around the pipes then its ground water.

How are the toilets flushing and sinks draining? Is the water only flowing in when it drains?

I'll pm Tom in plumbing to read this post. He will have a better idea of your situation.

The square hole is a tub dapout. The other sounds like a toilet rough in except the measurements are all wrong. There should also be a 2" lavatory stubup in the wall so the group can be vented. Now back to Mikes qiuestion. Is the water coming up outside the pipes or inside them? Regards, Tom

Where the water is coming in, it is at the base of the wall, but right where the "paint-can diameter" thing is- its on the opposite side of the basement from the roughed in bathroom but it is also right beneath the master bedroom bath so it must have something to do with the plumbing...

I'm going to try to explain this again because I know I've probably screwed up describing it so - where the leak is coming in, is where the wall meets the floor- the paint can diameter "thing" is about 2 inches from the wall so it looks like when the plumber (or whoever)installed it, he chipped some of the concrete-around that paintcan diameter hole in the concrete...
I hope that makes more sense... if not keep asking the questions...

I'm trying to figure out whether I should contact the dryloc people there are a ton of stipulations about the 10 year warranty that is given with this stuff and I just want to make sure I know what I'm talking about before I call them and they tell me its not covered... (I'm not sure whether dryloc is the correct terminology but what I mean is the stuff -tar?-to keep the basement from leaking that they put on during construction).

If the water is coming in at the seam where the floor meets the wall its not a Drylock problem. It sounds like you have a ground water/ water table problem and the drain tile along the footer is damaged or clogged.
The "paint can" area is a breach in the slab and water will go to a point of least resistance. Is your house still under builder warranty?

Ask the builder if this paint can thing is also where a sump pump is to be installed. If it's the size of a paint can that is too small for a sump pump.
Since you mention its not where the basement rough-in is I can't see it being a sewage problem unless your getting sewage smell.

You should contact the builder for some explanation of what the "paint can" thing is.
