Calculating Torque of a round spinning object
Hi all. What a great site! :)
Ok, My question relates to calculating torque on a machine.
NOTE: I have looked at other questions asked before, but cannot find a formula that relates to my specific question and product dimensions.
My machine has a round product that weighs 75kg and has an outer circumference of 900mm with the weight evenly distrubuted. It is mounted to a 40mm shaft, that spins freely through the use of some bearings.
I need to work out how much torque is generated when the product turns, (In only one direction) so that I can match a brake unit to it, to stop it turning, bearing in mind the product is not turned by a motor and does not turn very fast. It just needs to stop turning when required.
I hope I have supplied enough information for the question..
Thanks in Advance
