    Some possible reasons:
    1. Recipient email address is incorrect.
    2. Outgoing SMTP server set incorrrectly in Outlook account properties.
    3. Outgoing SMTP server authentication set incorrectly in Outlook account properties.
    4. Firewall on computer, gateway router, or at ISP is blocking port 25.

The send/receive transmission details available from the status bar will include an error message indicating the nature of the problem encountered.

Another problem may be that you are trying to send email from via a different server than the connection you are using.

For example: If your ISP's connection to the Internet is through JoeCable.net and you are trying to send email using DanaDSL.com, then Joe's Cable Service will see that this is not one of their customers and will deny the sending of the email.

You will need to logon to the POP server for DanaDSL.com to receive your email but you need to specify the SMTP server for your Internet connection to send email. So you would use the SMTP server for JoeCable.net instead of DanaDSL.com.
