    Urine test pos, blood negative
I took a urine pregnancy test last week and it was a faint positive line. I went to the doctor to do blood work and came back negative. So I took another home pregnancy test and again came positive with an darker ovious line indicating I'm pregnant. It showdes up positive 10 minutes later. How can understand this I'm going crazy, am I or am I not. I also feel very bloated and back ake as my period is going to come. I will go for another blood test If my period comes. Is it possible that the blood test is wrong. Any one have a similar experience or expert advice.

Hi. We have done IVF so know a bit about this. The most accurate is the blood test as they can tell what the level of HCG is being the pregnancy hormone and if there is no HCG there you won't be pregnant. Most pregnancy tests give the results well before 10 minutes so this won't be accurate. Check on the instructions in the pack. Sorry if you were hoping you were but I am pretty sure about this.

As Mumof2 said, be sure you are reading the results in the time stated on the directions... usually 3-5 minutes. Reading it afterwards can give a false reading.

Give it another week or so and try another test if you still feel that you might actually be pregnant. Many urine tests are just as sensitive as blood tests, meaning they will pick up low levels of hcg, but the blood test will be more accurate.

If there is still any question, you can always ask for another blood test but ask about having a quantitative one that will give you an actual level of hcg.

You shouldn't be reading results 10 minutes later on a pregnancy test... it doesn't count!
