Giving up my rights as a father
I have a 2 year old baby who my husband wants to adopt. My ex has for the last year not been a part of her life and could care less what happens to her, the child support that she was getting from her bio. Dad would not get a weeks worth of food so therefor I don't feel selfish for taking that always from her. Could I make her Bio. Write a letter giving up his rights and not have to have him go to court? Could that letter hold up in court when my husband files the adoption papers?

You cannot MAKE him do it. You can ask him nicely.

And each court is going to have a specific requirement for the letter. You will need a lawyer for the adoption and he will handle the specifics as to what the letter needs to entail.

The bio father can't be forced into anything. That's why courts often require that a relinquishing parent appear before the judge to affirm their desire to relinquish rights.

Adoption is not a D-I-Y deal. You do not want to make a mistake that willl come back to haunt you. So retian an attorney to ensure everything is done correctly.
