I am removing and installing a tub surround, and need to remove the faucets. I have NO idea how long the faucet handles have been there - but when I removed the three handles (hot, cold, and diverter), they are corroded inside, and the rest of the stuff underneath is corroded also. The brand is Central, and I am pretty sure I have to screw something off, but not sure where to start. I was going to keep the existing faucets, but it looks like I will be buying new since it is so corroded and I am afraid that I will break something trying to remove them.

Also, how do I remove the part that the water flows out of (sorry, don't know what that is called)? I am pretty handy - installed my new toilet last year - so if I know how to do something, I can pretty much do it on my own.

If you could post some pictures of your existing faucets, we will try to help you. If you are are replacing surrounds, I would say now is the time to update the faucets. However, if you really want to keep the current valve, you will only have to remove the handles, escetions, and tub spout. Then reinstall them once new surround is up.

To remove the tub spout, you will either have to unscrew it, or there will be a allen screw at bottom close to wall that you will loosen and pull spout straight out. Im betting that you have a threaded spout, with the fuacet you have. Just need to turn the spout counter clockwise to remove. May take a pair of pliers, our a screwdriver stuck up on the outlet will also give the leverage needed to remove.

If the handles give you a hard time a "handle Puller" (see image) is available.
A Handle Puller will coax those stubborn little critters right out of there. Pick on up at any plumbing supply house. Good luck, Tom

That handle puller is also a compression nut/sleeve remover... so very versatile tool!
