In a not at fault car accident, will it affect my premium with my insurance?
I recently was in a not at fault car accident. I reported it with my insurance company and the other party's insurance. Unfortunately, I do not have uninsured motor vehicle insurance and the other party did not have insurance on his vehicle the day of the accident. The at fault driver offered to settle outside of our insurance. My insurance approved the repairs and will have to pay a deductible. If I go through my insurance to repair my car, does this affect my premium?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it does. You need to take them to court if they do not pay up right away.

You may need to check with your agent because each state handles surcharges for accidents differently, but more than likely yes.

Once you have the repairs done, as Nohelp said, you can sue the other driver for reimbursement.

It really depends on the carrier. Between my daughter and myself, we have filed 4 accident claims that involved my carrier paying damages. One of those a month after I opened the policy. My rates were never raised.
