What will you be doing with the laptop?
    What is your budget?

I guess your options depend on if your bookkeeping program is available for Mac.

Quicken does have MAC and Windows versions. However, since your needs are very pedestrian, I don't see any reason to pay the premium for a MAC.

I look at MACs this way. MACs are like Lamborghinis. They will take you from point A to Point B. Maybe faster and fancier. But a Ford Focus will do the same job for a lot less money.

If you have a need for the advantages MACs offer and the budget to afford them get yourself a MAC. But for your needs, you can get a $600-$700 Windows based machine that will do what you need very nicely.

I just bought and configured a NetBook for my sister-in-law... portable notebook for $300. You can buy 4 of those for the price of a macbook... maybe 5.

Go for a netbook or small laptop. They look stylish and are usually the best option for women who mainly use their PC for shopping, videos, music, emails, Facebook etc. This article I found on small laptops may be able to help you.
