I am in the process of getting a divorce and do not want the house. He wants to try and keep it. He already had me sign the house over to him, so the deed only shows his name now. Can I have my name removed from the mortgage? I'm trying to refi my van and I can't because of the house. I have too much debt compared to my income.

Well bad move in signing the house over so soon, he has no reason to try and help now.

But he has to get a new loan in just his name and pay off the original loan.

You can not just take it off

I agree with Chuck, the mortgage company sees no reason to give away half of their leverage if a loan isn't being paid. This should all have been handled in the divorce, talk to your attorney.
