Is there a trade industry organisation for book keepers as there is for maybe the Federation of Small Business etc

Go to Google and write (certified book keeper)

I used to belong to this one:
American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB), the bookkeeping profession's association recognizing bookkeeping as a profession and bookkeepers as professionals, and certifying those bookkeepers who meet high, national standards.

But it's true that it's simple enough to go to Google. I stuck in "bookkeeper associations" and got several hits. That's how I found the above because I couldn't remember the name off-hand. (Been many years, before the internet.)
