    Mower belt replacement crisis
I'm in big trouble with my riding mower. No name or markings anywhere, so I DO NOT know what kind it is. THE PROBLEM is the belts were replaced by someone else while they had use of my mower. The problem is that driving speeds are no longer linear. The mower either hardly crawls , or wants to fly away. The other BIG problem is that after a short period of use, when you step on the brake, the engine DOES NOT disengage from the rear end and you can not stop the mower from moving unless you turn off the key. I can take pictures of the current belt arrangement if that helps. I have no idea where to start.

    Thanks for any help.

    KISS

What you need to do is to measure the belt and the pulley width.

What I might do is to put playdoh on the belt pully and then use a piece of string to approximate the length. If you use rope, your going to use the ID.

Use this calculator to size a belt.

The belts MUST be for lawn and garden, otherwise slipping and grabbing occur and the clutches don't work.
