    Court Order, relinquished rights. No Payment
    Good Day,
    I am a Soldier in the US Army. I was in an abusive relationship (engaged) a few years ago. I had a baby and I had the biological father served for child support. After the judgment was made, I had him relinquish his rights so that my husband (I married 3 years later) could adopt her. According to the judgement (February 2008), he is still required to pay the past due amount, plus the child support all the way up to the date my husband adopts her. I received money for 4 consecutive months from Department of Revenue. We communicated through email only. The guy lost his job in October '08 and I have not received any money, nor have I heard from him since then. Since there is a court order and he owes over $15,346.00, I don't know what do to. I call to check on the status of my case, and I get the run around. Sometimes they tell me they cannot locate him, other times they tell me they have sent out the final notice. They tell me that they are going to suspend his license, do a tax intercept, etc. I do not know what to do. I finally found him on myspace and I wrote him a message to see what is going on, it was professional and to the point. I am at my wit's end right now. I cannot wait for this misspace to be over! The state of Florida is representing me and he had an attorney but who knows what happened with that. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Thanks in advance.

    Sounds like you have done all you could. If he's not working how do you expect him to pay?

    The best you can do is to keep following up with the support collection agency.

    There are loopholes so to speak, if he is not working there is little they can do, I will assume this is the state child support enforcement agency,
    Andit is even harder is you are not there to follow up more

    Another thing not being said is.. if you really want it over and behind you just drop it. It sounds like you have gotten what you wanted. That would be the easiest route to take and move on with your life.

    Thanks for your response... I worled very hard to get to where I am, so I am not going to drop it. There was an order made, and he is obligated to pay, period. I have moved on with my life, but he will not get off the hook... Thanks anyway.

    What kind of loophole are there? Elaborate, please. He is going from job to job to avoid the garnishment order... True enough, it is hard since I am in another state, but the Army supports any travel I have to make so that's one good thing. Thanks for your response. :)

    Well he goes from job to jo trying to avoid the garnishment order, so the state of Florida is tracking that. I expect him to pay because it was court ordered, and he should make arrangements for minimal payments or something. I understand everyone is not responsible enough to make those moves, but hey. I do follow up on a weekly basis though. Thanks for your response. :)

    The stories of deadbeat NCPs abound. If he's willing to live like that he can avoid paying. But think of it this way; living like that is sort of revenge in itself. It means he will never accumulate much money and at some point in time he's going to wind up destitute. I know that doesn't get you the money he owes, but it may be some small satisifcation.

    Excuse me? Isn't her child entitled to the support that a court ordered him to pay? When he pays what he owes, then she can let him be.

    Maybe you are confused... Until you have thoroughly read the thread, and understand what you have read, do not post anything... That was very ignorant of you...
