    Bathroom tile setting
Hi All, I am re-tileing a shower and a jacuzzi tub. Can anyone tell me if the tiles on the walls are set first or the deck and do I leave a gap at the bottom for grout or caulking?

    Hi willey
The deck is tiled first and there is a space between deck and wall tile. This allows for water to shed. The space is the same size as spacing between tiles.

The space between deck and wall is caulked with same color as grout.

    Good luck

Everything above is correct. I'll just add that for cheap insurance, a bucket of liquid waterproofing, such as Custom's Redgard, Tec's Hydroflex, or Laticretes Hydroban when painted over the tub deck and flashed up the walls will prevent any water damage from happening in a happily shared bathing experience that results in standing water on the tub deck or along the wall/deck intersection should the caulk ever fail. ;)
