    Statement of retained earnings
1 Is the net income the same as the total stockholders equity? How do I know where to find the net income on the retained earnings statement.

2 if annual cash dividends plus the dividends in arrears were declared do I add them to the statement of retained earnings?

3 If I had an amount for common stock do I multiply that by the shares? Does that go on the statement of retained earnings?

1 Is the net income the same as the total stockholders equity? How do I know where to find the net income on the retained earnings statement.

    NO it is not.
The net income is the new addition to the
Retained earnings statement. It is brought forward from the Income Statement.

2 if annual cash dividends plus the dividends in arrears were declared do I add them to the statement of retained earnings?

    NO, you actually subtract them.

3 If I had an amount for common stock do I multiply that by the shares? Does that go on the statement of retained earnings?

Common stock has nothing to do with retained earnings.
Common stock and retained earnings are
Part and parcel of the EQUITY.

No need to post twice the same question! People who can answer your questions are probably offline at this time. You'll certainly have an answer by 7 hours. Don't ask me, I know nothing of accounts, well, very slight knowledge.

amyewegrzyn, this is a group of volunteers. We are here when we are here. If your duplicates are because you haven't gotten any answers yet, then you need to just wait until someone answers. Or perhaps someone doesn't know how to answer the question. Or perhaps it's also because you're asking for homework answers.

Whatever the reason, the point is that posting a bunch of duplicates is not going to help. It just confuses us.
