Is there a certain point in the healing process of wounds to use mederma properly? And are the scars supposed to turn red while using the product?

Have you read the ingredients of mederma? Onion extract. I've seen a derm say it is expensive snake oil and you could do just as well massaging any type of lotion on a scar to help it heal and go away. I think it is more the massaging that is good for it, helps to stimulate blood flow to speed healing. I don't remember where I read this.
