I am walking the graduation this May 2009, however, I will be extending my thesis up to July 31 which mean my actual graduation date will be July 31. Since I do no know my exact Thesis completion date, I have yet not applied for my OPT. I wish to travel to India between May 13 - June 15 of this year. I plan to apply for my OPT somewhere in the first week of July after I come back.
Can I travel to India in this situation? I have to finish my thesis and that is the only reason for me to come back to USA and I do not have any Job. In this situation is it safe to travel? Will I face any issues at the immigration while returning back? I have all the letters from my School stating that I am still under completion of my thesis. My I 20 is valid till Aug 2010.
Can you please throw some light in this situation?
