    New air conditioner
I may need a new home air conditioner. I am considering 2 brands. A trane 14 SEER 10 year warranty 4 ton as opposed to a Goodman 4 ton 14 SEER 10 year warranty. The Goodman is substantially less money. May I have some suggestions.

The goodmn is as good as the Trane,, if installed correctly, plus down the road when warranty runs out the parts for the Goodman will be much cheaoer and easier to find

There is some controversy about which brands are best but not much arguing there are many common parts between brands.

In my opinion I would seriously consider Goodman. It also could not hurt to get other quotes.

Just curious how much is substantially less money?

Josh, I got to say, Ive had great luck with goodman, heat and ac. Best bang for the buck, easy to work on, easy to find parts at a good price. In reallity, most knew ac units are created pretty much equal. The install and the installers warranty(not just the manufactures warranty) make a big difference in customer satisfaction. I agree with dac122, there will always be contriversy over what brand is the best, and I believe we tend to lean toward what we install and work on more frequently.

Final note, Goodman is (in my opinion) just as good as the others. Really depends on the reliability of the contractor(installer). Good luck and please let us know which you choose.
