What's a steam burn? What does it look like?

I have a steam cleaner with a cotton pad for my hardwood and it was left sitting in one place while it was still too hot. It is a big round white spot on the wood.

Sounds like humidity trapped in the finish.

Wife left top of coffee maker open. Next morning when coffee maker came on, steam came out and up to cherry cabinets (lacquer finish). Cabinet and door had a whitish look. Decided to wait and see if moisture could escape finish material on its own before attempting repairs. Rubbed with dry smooth cloth about once a week. Three weeks later all damage disappeared.

Wait and see what happens. You could do as I did and rub with dry, cloth such a bath towel to help process along.
