I am looking to start a tattoo parlor and have no funds to do so. I am not sure on how to go about getting a grant or if it is even possible to. The shop I want to own is a dream of mine and because of my past it is really hard to find work with a fellony on my record let alone with the econemy the way it is. So my question is how can I get a grant for starting a business and because I have a fellony does it make me a minority?:confused:

It is doubtful that you will get a grant, you need to write up a business plan to get a loan if possible. And no having a felony only makes you a felon, it is not a protected group.

You may find a current parlor that will rent you space in their business.

But you will need money to open a business normally the failure of most is money, The very min most experts say is 6 months of expenses in the bank since you will not make money for a while after you open.

My suggestion is to work at a parlor for a while to learn how to operate the business. A business plan is a must so be mindful of all facets. Business isn't hard, especially in a field you enjoy. On the job training is valuable training. You will need to save money to start your own parlor or borrow the money. How is your credit? Felons can have good credit ratings just as our Senators/Reps can have bad credit ratings.
