Switch/Outlet Combo Not Working
Thanks everyone in advance for your help! I have a situation which sounds like it should be easy, but I'm having some problems. I am installing a new kitchen in my house, and wanted to add a few new outlets around. So far so good. I have a light above my sink which is a plug in light. I would like to hard-wire this light into a switch, but would still like an outlet in the area as well, so I purchased a single pole switch and outlet combo. I wired it so have the normal 12-2 wires attached, but the outlet only works when you flip the switch. I want the outlet to work all the time, and the switch to work the light only. I'm not sure if I purchased the wrong type of box, or if I need to wire something differently.
To lay it out for you, The hot wire is on the top of the box, the neutral and ground wires are on the bottom of the box. Now the odd part... there are to black screws on the top of the box as well, kind of next to each other. I don't know what they are for.
My wife in an attempt to clean up after my mess tossed the instructions out, so I can't look at them to find out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
