Hi, am 26yrs old and my period is 95% regular. However my last period was about twenty days late and I'm wondering what could be the problem, I actually thought I was pregnant. There were a few times before in past yrs when I had period irregularities but all ultrasounds said my womb was fine. I experience severe dysmennorhea on almost all alternate periods as well. Once they said my womb was retroinverted buut that was 4yrs ago, its normal now. Sometimes I wonder if the right tests are being done on me, I want to fix things while am young still.

The painful periods on alternate months means that that is the side (ovary) that is ovulating. At least, that is what my doctor told me, and my daughter (we are the same as you) I have a friend who is on a 15/45 cycle... and that is normal for her! I put my daughter on the pill to lessen the painful periods, and still, every other one was bad... now we have her on seasonal- the one you take for 3 months at a time, so she only gets sick twice a year. I thought by now they would have solved the problem. It is totally normal to have periods go a bit off schedule, weither it is from stress, travel, illness or just your body being in charge... that is why all natural methods of contraception can't be relied on. I have also found that good amounts of b vitamins and evening primrose oil have been a small help. I also take ibuprophen for two days before I am due to start. Hope all of that helps.

Well often times pain killers don't work, I've tried them all Ibuprofen, Panadeine F, Ponstan Forte, Boralgen. I would end up in Accident and Emergency and only the ever so painful Boralgen injection helps me so I can live an extra 6-8hrs or so. But thanks for the advice. Its very frustrating and scary at times when all you want to know is what is wrong with you and no one has the answer. But I hope if anything is wrong (God forbid) that I am correctly diagnosed and treated. I want to have my own kids one day you know.
