    Dog with severe mange.
My friends dog has had mange for over 3yrs and its all over her back and legs, her legs are black and she itches ALL the time. She's a very small dog and I was wondering since there low on cash and will not take her to the vet or give her up. Is there anything they can use on her?

    What type of mange?

    Sarcoptic mange or scabies
    Demodectic mange

    This should help...

My dad used burt motor oil, but that's messy, bad for the environment and just mean.
If it worked I don't really know but he swore by it.

    (1) for the itching mix ¼ ounce alcohol and 8oz water put it in a spray bottle and apply a couple of times a day if it doesn't irritate his skin too much try it first on a small area of skin.
    (2) you can also try dermoplast antibacterial pain relieving spray you can buy at any kroger, walmart,Kmart
    (3) you can also apply triple antibiotic cream or neosporine to the cracked skin
(4)vaseline (petrolium jelly) will also help heal the skin
Step 5 is not recommended for the health hazard it can cause to the animal but it does work if it is the mange my grandfather used it on our cattle dogs they were registered english shepards back in the 1970's and 80's the dogs didn't mind it they got immediate relief and were well in a few weeks but that was 20ish years ago before they discovered oil caused cancer
    (5) used (burnt) automotive motor oil

The best solution for mange is ivomectin. It is injected by your vet into the dog over a course of a few weeks.

I wouldn't be putting any oils or alcohol on your dog as this would be very painful!!

I have never used a dip so I can't give you much personal info on that.

We have used the injection combined with a cream and within a month he was completely healed and the hair was almost all back. Ours had dermadectic mange which mainly effects the head and eyes.
