    1994 dodge van 318 will not start.suddenly?
I was driving my van to a hardware store. As I was parking it, it burped and conked out. I coasted into my spot and went to the store.

When I came out, It would not start. It turns over but not start. IT tries sometimes. But no.

The rotor is going around under the cap. The codes told me a coolant temp sensor. I don't think this would cause a no start. I seem to be getting spark at the coil wire to the cap. Though I don't know if it is hot enough. I have 40 psi on the fuel pressure. This is when you turn the key on and during cranking. I have 120 compression on the cylinders. There is play in the timing chain.

    Any ideas?? Thanks

I forgot to meantion that I spray starting fluid in the intake and get a backfire out the exhaust and intake... sometimes. Otherwise, there is no change.

I would accept the code at face value and replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor, which affects fuel injector pulse width. The ECT Sensor is a temperature dependent resistor (thermistor), whose resistance decreases as the engine coolant temperature increases. It provides a richer mixture when cold, leaner mixture when hot. They become corroded, due to not changing the coolant frequently enough, flood the engine, and waste a tremendous amount of fuel. Easy to replace.

Although it was producing spark, the coil was the problem. In case others have a similar problem someday.
