How do I lose the weight?
I don't have enough exess weight to go on a full-on diet, but bathing suit season is coming, and I'm a little worried. I would just like to trim it down to a flat stomach, or at least almost flat. Any advice on how to lose it fast?

Heavy breakfast, medium lunch, light dinner and lots and lots of water,,
Eat less sugar, exercise, push ups, tummy crunches, hulaloop, etc,, give a lot of exercise to your tummy but not so much that you get cramps,, try pranayama,, yoga helps but it takes time,,
Pull your stomach bac and keep it that way as long as you can but you have to keep breathing along,, this is actually the bes method,, no sweat,,

I have no issue with the above post...

In addition, smaller meals... about 5... spread out over the day is also good. This might mean one or two are more "snacks"... a few bites of lean mean and cheese... or lightly seasoned, oven roasted nuts and dried fruit... clearly what many do... making dinner the biggest meal of the day... makes NO sense at all.

Why dump calories into your body as it is winding down for the night? Its mostly a social phenomenon.

And really, exercise, with reasonable diet modifications, is the best way to go.

You'd be surprised how pilates can crank your core (abs, back) in... my partner has a stomach that you can literally bounce a quarter off... and women ten years younger than her don't look that good. Within just two weeks of practicing pilates, with proper form and deliberate effort, she cranked in her lower back and got a sexy little line running down the middle of her abs. now... a year later, she still doesn't have a prized "six pack" but who cares? She is strong, looks great, and wears what she wants.

Pilates dvds can often be rented at local public libraries if you don't want to buy. If you would want to buy, id recommend Stott pilates. Good stuff.

Id rather lift weights and do crunches and captains chair than spend an hour with those pilates women trainers. They are evil. Mean. Hard core. Its good stuff...

Also like tae bo... billy blanks dvds. It's a change of how you move your body. Those two dvds... pilates and tae bo, took a workout I was hum drum about and made them interesting, and helps me cross train.

    Something to think about.

Yoga and pilates take time to learn to do well... but when you learn it well, you have a great workout for life...

To lose one pound, you must burn approximately 3500 calories over and above what you already burn doing daily activities. Whew... that sounds impossible doesn't it? Here's how it works.

    1. Calculate yourBMR (basal metabolic rate). Your BMR is what your body needs to maintain normal functions like breathing, digestion, etc.
    2. Calculate your activity level. Use a calorie calculator to figure out how many calories you burn while sitting, standing, exercising, lifting weights, etc. throughout the day.
    3. Keep track of how many calories you eat. Use a food journal to add up what you eat and drink during the day. If you're eating less calories than you're burning, you'll lose weight.
