    Cash a Cheque
How old do you have to be to cash a cheque?
If you under the age of 18 can you cash a cheque if it is addressed to you?

Only the payee of a check can present it for payment. The exception to this is is the payee endorses the check to someone else. There is no age limit, but be prepared to show ID.

    Show ID Scott?

I have NEVER been asked to show id when I cash a cheque into my account.

But, I show them my bank book which has my bank account number on it.

I guess the rules are different since we do live in different countries.

Actually, now a days I don't use the tellers anymore, I just cash cheques via the ATM machines.

Note the bolded phrase. You are entirely correct in that. However, I'm assuming, based on the question, that the OP doesn't have a bank account and that he will be using a check cashing service. Such usually do require ID.

I haven't been to a teller in years. 99% of my bank dealings is done through the WEB or with ATMs.
