    Condensing fan motor
Has anyone ever had a ac unit run so hot that the condensing fan motor cuts out on overload?

This is on a 3 ph unit. And I have tried the motor wired with the wild leg and with out. And still it will only run about 15 minutes.

Most of the condensing fan motors do require for there to be air over them but I don't think that I have ever had one cut out because the compressor heat over heated the fan motor.

I would think that the fan motor is cutting off because of it over heating itself.

Disconnect the compressor leads and turn on the fan by itself and see how long it runs with out cutting out, it may not cut out but that would be a way of checking it out.

Good thought. Have yet to try that.
