Can I still continue my touring musician career while on felony probation?
    Hey guys
Fr_chuck and excon got to nother question 4 you
    Here is the deal
I am or was a touring guitarist before and when I got into trouble, had no management or agent at that time if idid I would have had a better attorny.
    Anyhoot
I have been signed to a management deal recently that represents me as a touring guitarist for hire
Since I got on probation I got a good seasonal job summer time work.. I work 9 month out of the yr and the winter months I do music.. well since the economy went belly up I am not sure if they are calling m,e back for work this season.. so here is the?

I have never met my po before and I am meeting with po on Thursday
My management is providing me with a letter for my p.o to state what it is I do and their need for me to tour in the coming months
What else do I need ?
I am worried that my p.o is going to clip my wings i.e say something like sorry not on probation are you doing the music thang?
A lot of musicians have gotten into trouble all the time over the yrs again this is what I was doing before I got into trouble I have been VERY responsible since on probation with the exception of my first dirty u.a..
Can they deny my career or me doing my career?
    I hope I makes sense
I am also trying 2 type better since getting schooled on here for my text type messages lol
    Anyhoot gentlemen
Thanks for your help again ball park figures I know everycase and person and p.o is different
Cheers with another capri sun 2 you
You are going to have to tell me your fav flavors lol
    Godbless

The letter from your manager would definitely help, but there is no guarantee that you will be able to travel and stay out of the state for months at a time. Not to rain on your parade, but I really don't think you'll get approved for travel if it entails being gone for months or weeks at a time. This would mean that you would not be available for drug testing and you could also easily skip and forget to come back. You can whine all you want that you've been good, etc. but I don't really forsee the PO saying yes on this one. Sorry.

And you saying you've been very responsible with your probation and then having a dirty test is silly and downright laughable.

    AHHH U AGAIN?
    Thanks twinkiedoodle..
    Very much appreciated..
I WAS very good on probation until I skrewd up ONCE taking a couple of tokes that was 10 minutes out of a yr and a half hardly laughable,
    Stupid error in judgement YES
, and in no way am I defending my actions in fact I now frown on it and not because I was caught but because I realize now I needed to get caught to not ever EVER DO THAT AGAIN
AND BY THE WAY I HAVE NEVER WHINED about my situation I recognize that I have no rights or right to cry I get it I really do
Thanks for your input it started of well
    BUT
Can I ask why are you so harsh?
You took aim at me in the last thread and again here and claimed I was whining

But you never took notice that I have made attemps at trying to type better as you asked of me in the other thread why is that??

Thanks for the input but again be kind please!

I could be a fallen angel that would give you my last breath of life to save yours

    There can be several issues

    1. rules of your probation, if there is drinking in the bars or night clubs, if there is any reference to not being allowed in them, that can also be a issue, *** don't know the terms of your probation

    2. how often do you check in, and can you check in if you are traveling, will you be back often enough to do check in's.

And they will have to give you permission to travel out of state.

So much depends on the crime you did, and level of probation

Gotcha fr_chuck thanks for the reply...
It was a real lax probation I was checking in once a month to a kiosk until my dirty ua.
It was a low level probation and a nonviolent crime ,my first charge ever in my life I got forgery and grand larceny "stupid, stupid, stupid on my part first and last crime i assure society,..
    i wanna say this
when i was younger i used to go to church on my own sought god on my own ..
i was on drugs for "last night I figured it out " 21 yrs of my life, and I got to tell you now that I am sober with the excption of my mishap on the herb everythang happens for a reason I needed this to happen to me because I would have been dead..
The real unfortunate and regret I have is hurting someone who did not desrve to be hurt due to my crime just because someone has a lot it is not mine to take..
I did not seek out god because I was in trouble, I seek him out because my soul is empty and I am sober now and what ever pain I was burying is now here at my front door along with a probation officer..
I am talented,I do have young people who look up to me as sort of inspiration from my playing, I needed this to turn my life around and I can't do it alone without my gods love I am 34 and I now can see..
Anyhoot nuff of my spaech I just realized I was going on and on but for some reason this helps me to feel again ,helps me through this
I WANT to pay for what I did
I WANT to do good for others
I DO have a good heart
    I AM gods son
    So with that
    Bless all you
    Getchapull
Cheers to you with a nice warm cup of brooklyn coffee

    Ola guys
    Thangs went really well today,
Probation officer says I can tour with 30 day notice and is willing to work with my management team in making sure my n/a meetings are set up in eatch town prior to showtime of that date, I have to fly back once a month to check in of course..
My p.o gets all my itinerarys i.e city, show dates, personnel contact info, hote room numbers, bus numbers and all travel dates in advanced..
I got lucky, very lucky , fr-chuck , I got the one that wanted to to get 2 lunch lol but really I think it is because I am low risk and this is my profession and the management firm I am with has a zero tloerance 4 b.s.. And drugs and to be honest
God is my pilot he is th edriver,s seat on this one I can't believe how it all went today..
    BUT
I isn't on the plane, bus, tour YET so I will keep you updated..
    Thanks a mill
    excon and fr-chuck

Am very pleasantly surprised that you were given this chance to travel and come back. For the most part they don't approve scenerios like that but you don't know until you ask.

    Thank you twinkiedooter,
I was as much surprised as well, I guess also these situations happen all the time unfortunately in the music industry,I earn a very good income that is taxable as well from the jobs I receive with high profiled artist, not saying that I get special treatment by any means maybe just a combination of luck, god, facts, preparation, information and attorneys..
But whatever the reasons I am giving an opportunity to resume my career and NOT BLOW IT!!
Turn this into a positive and do what's right for myself , family and community.
I definitely don't want to be a selfish self absorbed guitarist , I have the potential to talk with kids and be a better rolemodel..
I am not saying this because I got my way so to speak..
This is heavy on my heart and my spirit for sure..
Thank you for your kind words twinkiedooter
God bless to you and yours..
