Instaling windows in DOS Mode
What is the virus and what anti-virus do you have?
I got a butt load of viruses and need to know how to re install windows vista. I have the boot disk, but it won't let it run automaticlly. Need to know how to re install it in MS DOS Mode.
I haven't installed Vista, but I have installed XP on many occasions. I suspect that the procedure is very similar, if not identical. I suggest you try to boot from the Windows Vista CD. Usually you hit <F11> or <F12> when the computer starts to boot (start from full shut-down) to get into the boot menu. Sometimes you have to get into the setup window (<F2> most often) and select the order in which the PC will try to find the boot disk. Select the CD-ROM first.
Once you boot from the CD, the procedure will be obvious. I recommend doing a clean install. Delete the entire partition and then re-create it. That will give you a "clean" install. It works better than trying to install Windows over itself. There are too many things that can still stay around if you do that.
(and stop clicking on unsafe stuff).
MS-DOS has not existed since Windows 95. The only way to install Vista is to boot to the CD. If your CD is not set as bootable. You might need to go into the CMOS setup to change the boot order.

I've merged your threads for you.
Reinstalling Vista is not going to get rid of the viruses unless you do a CLEAN install. What would be better is to use the Recovery CD or partition to return the machine to factory settings.
Use the recovery disk to re-install the OS - Need to do a full recovery and not a repair installation as you are mentioning malware as your reason for doing this
