Hello all. I'm looking for a kids movie which was probably made in the 1980's. I recall it being played on UK TV around christmas time in the early 1990's. It was a children's fantasy/adventure film and all I can remember are small parts. Anyway, The main character is a young boy. Durin his adventure he opened invisible doors into other places, I remember one door was in a deserty type place... At the end, the boy is on a beach with a bunch of people including his parents and there's these two little black things that look like coal and his parents blow up or disappear after they touch them even though the boy screamed at them not to. I realise how weird this sounds but it's all I remember.
